New Single by Ivey

Originally Ivey began as a garage band created by two brothers Lachlan and Matthew McGuffie with their neighbour, Dante Martin. The band Ivey was officially formed in April 2013 with the introduction of lead vocalist Millie Perks by guitarist Lachlan McGuffie.

The 4-piece outfit released their single “Smell of Smoke” in late 2015, which saw Ivey complete a whirlwind of massive support shows, performing with the likes of British India, The Delta Riggs, Tired Lion and The Belligerents towards the end of 2015. Their creative output also found them getting regular plays on Rage ABC, becoming one of Channel V’s Discover Artist’s and gaining impressive reviews from the likes of Pilerats, The Guardian and Dom Allessio (Triple J).

Ivey continued strongly into 2016 gathering support slots with Ocean Alley, High Tails, The Vanns, and Tiny Little Houses, and releasing their new single “All Things Good” mid 2016 with the aid of Konstantin Kersting (The Belligerents). All Things Good again received great industry feedback, gaining them slots on festivals such as Shaka Fest andCaloundra Music Festival. It was then that Ivey completed their first ever headline show, selling out their local venue Elsewhere to an adoring crowd.

The back end of 2016 saw Ivey head into the studio once more to record “Last Week”. Progressing musically the band released “Last Week” not only as an ode to their stylistic changes, but also to their live performances. “Last Week” became their anthem, and with it followed great reviews by national and international blogs and critics such as Indie Shuffle, Zane Rowe (triple j) and Music Feeds and high rotation on Triple J Unearthed Radio. This then saw the band take off on tour, playing at the Sydney Aria Week Party, Brisbane, Wollongong and finishing with a massive hometown show on the Gold Coast with Good Boy.

Ivey powered into 2017, announcing an extended tour which saw them once again travel down the east coast, supporting Miami Horror, Mosquito Coast, The Vanns and Tiger Town along with scoring slots at festivals such as Surfers Paradise Live and Blurst Of Times. In between their busy touring schedules, Ivey have been writing consistently, building up a strong repertoire of new music. With a building, enthusiastic fan base, a high energy live show and a fierce young work ethic and the release of their new single Out Of Time which has been receiving attention across the music industry, the rest of 2017 looks to be big for the band.

Men I Trust Releases “Tailwhip”

Tailwhip is a groovy song that talks about the band’s recent move back to Montreal. The lyrics are half happy (going back to a place we know to write new stuff) and half nostalgic (knowing we will end in the countryside). Emma’s soft vocals are supported by a thick rhythmic bass line, round pads, organs, Rhodes and simple percussions.

Men I Trust, is an indie-dance band from Montreal (Canada) who produces its own music videos. “We love smooth sounds, calm melodies and simple rhythms that relax, but make your right foot tap and your chin bounce on the beats. We are all in DYI: we record, mix, master and shoot our music videos ourselves, and we’re loving it!”

Kristina Emmott, also known under the stage name “willolux,” is a Canadian singer/songwriter whose musical style blends classic 70’s folk with infectious modern dream pop. Her introspective, whimsical songs recall the work of songstresses such as Neko Case, Ingrid Michaelson, and Regina Spektor.

Emmott’s love of songwriting blossomed early on – she recalls wandering through the playground at age 8, humming melodies and constantly daydreaming about songs.

Her debut album as Willolux, produced by Jon Anderson (Andy Shauf, Aidan Knight, Twin Bandit), is a full-length album entitled Thread & Tape, released on June 23rd, 2017. It is a collection of wistful songs, at once fragile and bold, which bravely lays bare questions of self-love, healing, and mental health. With her catchy and endearing story based pop songs, Emily Rockarts is starting to catch on in Toronto’s crowded music scene. Her songs explore the wide eyed optimism of moving to new cities, the expansive depth of oceans, and the stratospheres of space.

Emily met Dan Rougeau (guitar – Flatrock, Midcoast), Soren Nissen (bass – Omni 3, David Occhipinti) and Ian Wright (drums – I Double You, Autobahn) while attending school at Humber College. Drawing on different backgrounds of rock, pop, jazz, and folk they’re working towards developing a cohesive sound that merges these influences.

“Mapmaker”, Emily Rockarts’ debut release from April of 2016, is a collection of songs that is as sweet and light hearted as it is thoughtful and full of longing. Emily’s music is artfully expressed through her captivating quartet. The music is honest, quirky, ever-changing and guarantees that no two shows will be the same.

After a successful east coast tour in promotion of “Mapmaker”, Emily is writing a new batch of songs, with the focus on a national tour, and the release of a full length album in 2018.

The Heirs – Suburban Wonderland

Los Angeles-based indie pop band, The Heirs, debut their highly anticipated single and music video for “Suburban Wonderland” on July 14th, 2017- available worldwide.

The track effortlessly blends glossy and brightly colored synths within every note, complimenting brother and sister leads Savannah and Brandon Hudson’s vocal prowess. Begging to be listened to on repeat, the song emphasizes the suburban normality and coming to age in today’s undeniably hectic bliss.

Comprised of Savannah Hudson (vocals), Brandon Hudson (vocals, guitar), Alex Flagstad (guitar), Eian McNeely (bass/keys) and Brennan Benko (drums), The Heirs make their presence known within the indie-pop genre, taking a seat right beside great bands like Walk the Moon and The XX. Smoky Knights’ super catchy vibe ‘Sooner or Later’ is the brand new single off their 3rd EP and brings us the upbeat surf rock flavours to cheer this week:

Smoky Knights are an indie rock quartet based out of Los Angeles. In an attempt to achieve psychedelic feelings on their upcoming 3rd EP, the band’s sound has arrived somewhere between California surf rock, 50’s dinner club fluff, and 70’s drug binge fuzz. In 2012, Smoky Knights was formed as a trio by original members Andy Fischer-Price, Seth Sylvester, and Adam Brooks. They added guitarist Jesse Cross in the fall of 2014.
